1 T olive oil
2 t garlic, minced
dash hot red pepper flakes
12 oz broccolini, rinse, dry, and trim the dry stem end a bit, but leave whole
1/4 cup water
Optional Garnish: 2 oz grated Parmesan Cheese, or to taste
Directions:
Prep and measure all the ingredients.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet set over medium heat.
When the oil begins to shimmer, add the garlic and hot red pepper flakes. Stir for one minute.
Add the broccolini and saute for 4 minutes. Stirring occasionally.
Add the water and cover. Steam for another 5 minutes.
Remove the lid and continue to cook allowing the water to evaporate.
Continue cooking until the broccolini is done to your taste. Check with a fork. Anywhere from crisp tender to very tender is excellent for this lovely veggie.
Do not overcook it to the point of mushiness. Finishing this beautiful veggie should not take much more than a couple minutes once the lid is off the pan.
Enjoy with or without the cheese!
